Well, the SpaceX Falcon 9 flight, if successful, would be a pretty stunning thing. Their fully loaded cost for launches looks to be in the $120M range for a Falcon 9, which for a medium lift launch is a dramatic cost saving.

It might actually be as low as you can go with the tech for the forseeable future.

I'm not sure that slightly cheaper space access counts as a New New Thing. Sputnik in 1957 now that was a New New Thing, but nothing very interesting is going to happen in pace until the cost per kg in LEO is <$100.
